Financial support for our members
You may have financial difficulties for all sorts of unexpected reasons, such as:
- Loss of income.
- Relationship breakdown.
- Bereavement.
- Suffering from a long-term illness.
- Needing to buy equipment because of a disability.
- Caring for someone with special needs or an illness.
Our registered charity, There for You, is proud to support thousands of members and their families every year with things such as:
- One-off financial assistance grants to cover general living costs, household appliances, urgent repairs, disability equipment and adaptations, utility bills and funeral costs.
- Wellbeing breaks, providing short holidays for families.
- A range of seasonal grants to help members with the cost of children’s school uniform, new shoes and food bills.
- A free debt advice service and benefits calculator.
Financial support is offered to UNISON members who have been with the union for at least four weeks and are up-to-date on their subscriptions.
When applying for grants or financial assistance, be sure to review the eligibility criteria carefully, as this outlines who the funding is intended for and what circumstances are covered.
