UNISON Scotland
Our growing membership is comprised of people working in public services or for private contractors providing public services and essential utilities. They include frontline staff and managers working full- or part-time in local authorities, the NHS, colleges and schools, universities, the electricity, gas and water industries, police services, transport and in the voluntary sector.
Our key focus areas included combating the cost-of-living crisis, campaigning against the National Care Service (Scotland) Bill, and securing pay rises for health and local government workers.
Our Bargaining and Campaigns Team responds to consultations from the Scottish Parliament and publishes regular briefings for MSPs and MPs to ensure UNISON policy is represented where decisions are made.
The UNISON Scottish Council comprises delegates from all Scottish branches and oversees the work of Scottish Committees. It meets three times a year to elect officers, committees, delegations and set policies on general matters.
The UNISON Scottish Committee comprises elected members from Scottish Council, Service Group delegates and Self Organised Group delegates. It has a key policy and strategy role between Scottish Council meetings.
The Scottish Communications and Campaigns Committee comprises members directly elected from the Scottish Council and nominees from other Scottish Committees. It is supported by a professional Communications Officer.
Jane Haining: A mission of love
