Response to "Pathways to Work" Green Paper on UK benefits reform
Proposed welfare reforms could force disabled people out of work rather than help them into employment

UNISON response
Many of our members rely on Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for travel, treatments, food and other essential costs linked to employment. Evidence from a UNISON survey of 3,000 members shows that 75% of those receiving Personal Independence Payment (PIP) say losing it would affect their ability to work.
Protecting disability benefits, investing in public services and improving workplace support are essential to help disabled people remain in work and avoid increased hardship.
About the consultation
The Green Paper launched a public consultation from 18 March 2025 to 30 June 2025, seeking responses from disabled people, employers, trade unions, charities and wider public.
