Renters’ Rights Bill: House of Commons second reading
A UNISON briefing calling for additional measures to the Renters’ Rights Bill
Date posted:
9 October 2024
UNISON welcomes the measures, which mainly apply to England, but believe it requires further strengthening to create a fair and sustainable private rented sector, including:
extend protection period; require landlords to register intent to sell or move to deter backdoor evictions; cap in-tenancy rent increases; prohibit discriminatory practices; and fund local authorities to enforce housing regulations.
