Planning and Infrastructure Bill: report stage

This briefing outlines the key measures in the bill and UNISON’s policy

UNISON welcomes the Planning and Infrastructure Bill, particularly its provisions to simplify and reduce the cost of compulsory land purchase for social house building, localised planning fees and increased planning capacity to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the planning system. 

However, these reforms alone are insufficient to meet the urgent need for genuinely affordable council and social homes and robust public services.
