Strikes on
Strikes next week in row over pay.
Staff will walk out for three days after talks collapsed.
“Nobody wants to take strike action but, after years of watching wage rises fall behind the cost of living, AQA workers want things put right.
“They're dedicated professionals who deliver essential services to schools, teachers and young people across the country. Staff deserve to be treated fairly and paid properly for their work.”
Notes to editors:
– In the recent strike ballot, 77% of staff who voted backed strike action and 92% backed action short of strike, which includes working to rule.
– UNISON is the UK’s largest union, with more than 1.3 million members providing public services in education, local government, the NHS, police service and energy. They are employed in the public, voluntary and private sectors.
– AQA sets more than half of all GCSE and A-level papers taken in England. Around 1.4m students sit the exam board's papers each summer.
