Local elections 2026

The recent May local election results have brought political change across our region, and this has created uncertainty for many public sector workers.

While political leadership may change, one thing does not: the commitment of public service workers such as you, as it is you who keep services running – often under intense pressure and with stretched budgets. You support people at their most vulnerable and make sure vital services are there when they are needed.

Periods of change raise questions about priorities, funding, and jobs. That is why trade unions matter. UNISON will continue to stand with our members in Yorkshire and Humberside – defending fairness at work, speaking up for public services, and challenging poor decisions where needed.
