Victory for Southwark Veolia workers!
Great news for Southwark Local Government branch, who resolved a dispute with Veolia on Friday 22nd July.
UNISON members had unanimously voted in support of industrial action regarding unreasonable workloads and the ‘task and finish’ elements of their contracts which were being unfairly applied by Southwark Veolia management.
After weeks of negotiations with management conducted by Branch Secretary April Ashley and UNISON Greater London Regional Organiser John Noblemunn, Veolia Management acceded to the members demands avoiding industrial action which would have had a serious negative effect on the resident of the London Borough of Southwark.
UNISON Greater London regional secretary Jo Galloway said “This resolution demonstrates the power of members who are prepared to take action to defend their terms and conditions when employers treat them unfairly in this difficult economic climate”
The terms of the resolution will be closely monitored by the local Southwark LG Branch and the Greater London regional office.
