Our reps are the heart of UNISON
Reps are the vital link between members and the union, When UNISON members face problems at work, their rep is the first point of contact to listen, advise and negotiate with employers to find a way forward.
Many reps are specially trained to deal with issues around employment law, grievance and disciplinary matters. They stand up for members and may accompany members to meetings or hearings.
But reps do more than represent individuals, they also organise members around the issues that matter, recruiting new members and encourage participation to build a stronger, fairer union for everyone.
Working closely with members, reps also help to improve working conditions, bargain on issues like equal pay, and campaign for positive change, both locally and nationally.
Every rep and member belongs to a local UNISON branch. Together, they form our regional network, connecting us all together and helping to make a difference within the union.
