UNIZONE line up confirmed for Tolpuddle Martyrs' Festival
We’ve pulled out all the stops as we return to Tolpuddle Martyrs' Festival with our aptly named, UNIZONE.
The festival takes place from Friday 17 July until Sunday 19 July. The UNIZONE will be open on Saturday with the following line up:
10:00 - 11:00 Nature Voices (Performance)
Conscious boom bap hip hop from rapper, producer and multi-instrumentalist Martin Sheills. Martin entertains, educates and inspires audiences to care for the natural world and those with whom we share it, by way of endearing characters describing themselves and their lives in the novel format of boom bap hip-hop.
11:30 - 12:00 Sìdà Yoga (Yoga for YoGA)
Get your day going with some gentle seated yoga practice (ideal for beginners and experienced yoga practitioners alike)
12:30 - 14:00 Year of Green Activity (Workshop)
UNISON’s policy officer Michelle Singleton will lead this workshop on UNISON’s year of green activity (including challenging the far right narrative and building worker power). There will be a screening of a video by Chris Packham - there may even be a quiz!
14:30 - 15:30 Placard making (Workshop)
UNISON members Roberta and Mike Wakefield will facilitate this workshop where you can make your own placard to carry with you on the march on Sunday. It’s time to show your pride and your solidarity!
16:00 - 17:00 Big Mambo (Performance)
Big Mambo are a dynamic Bristol-based all-female band, with a unique blend of original funk, rock and pop, wrapped up nicely in an eclectic fusion of rhythmic styles & catchy melodies!
On Sunday, we will be joined on the march by the Bristol Sambistas samba band, so come and dance through the village with the UNISON bloc.
We look forward to seeing you all in the sloping fields of Tolpuddle once more.
