The South West LGBT+ self-organised group (SOG) picked up the regional recruitment and organising award at UNISON’s national LGBT+ conference in Edinburgh.
South West LGBT+ SOG co-convenor Micheál Duffy said: “It feels like an amazing achievement to have won the recruitment and organising award for the third year in a row, we really are all building a spectacular and vibrant movement in the South West and making sure our voices are heard across the union and more widely.
“After an incredibly difficult year for LGBT+ members, it’s good to have our work to fight back and build a community of safety for LGBT+ workers recognised.”
South West LGBT+ a-spec lead Paul Wickson said: “It’s fantastic to see the South West LGBT+ self-organised group recognised once again for our recruitment and organising efforts. We strive to provide a safe space for all LGBT+ members, particularly those under the +, and this demonstrates that.”
