Learning reps training

Union learning rep stage 1

The core course for new union learning representatives explains UNISON’s approach to lifelong learning and helping working people to gain skills and qualifications and learn for personal fulfilment.

With a focus on those who have traditionally been excluded from learning, you will learn:

• how you can work with members and employers to identify learning needs;
• ways to promote UNISON’s learning offer;
• how we can organise around learning.

Follow-on training for learning reps

As a learning rep, you’ll find yourself developing or exploring specific themes depending on the needs of members in your branch or workplace, or your own interests. UNISON College aims to help you with online and classroom-based courses.

Look out for training on:

• dyslexia and how it affects people in the workplace
• the history of trade union education and learning
• digital communication for learning reps
• tackling digital exclusion

Tutor training

Some union learning reps want to lead learning activities themselves, and take on the role of a tutor. Our tutor training pathway includes the following courses:
