UNISON College provides a wide range of learning and training opportunities for UNISON members
UNISON Greater London learning and training
Every year, thousands of members develop new skills, knowledge and confidence with UNISON College. Members across the UK can access exclusive courses, bursaries, financial support, special events and e-learning.
Our Activist training programme is designed to give new and experienced activists the skills they need to carry out their roles with confidence. All courses are free for you to attend, although there may be a charge to your branch.
Training is vital to help improve workers’ rights and to deliver UNISON campaigns to improve pay and conditions, make workplaces safer and promoting equalities.
There is a mix of in-person and online events, along with a variety of options for participating in organising stewards and health and safety courses.
We offer financial support to members taking part in various educational and learning opportunities, as well as learning discounts from a number of providers. Being a UNISON member also offers access to our full member learning offer which includes a wide range of educational opportunities, both online and offline.

The Jenny Nyman Education Bursary
We are proud to introduce an education bursary that supports lower-paid women members in achieving their personal and professional growth by assisting with the costs of accredited courses.
This opportunity is made possible by a generous legacy gift from Jenny Nyman, a dedicated UNISON member.
Jenny Nyman was a working class woman from the east end of London who achieved a great deal – a university education and a professional job. As a lifelong trade union activist (in NALGO and later UNISON), she wanted to help other working-class women access the same opportunities she had and saw education as the key to this.
We hope this bursary provides you with the opportunity to take the next step with your education: whether it’s returning to education after leaving school early or gaining a qualification you’ve always dreamed of, we hope it will serve as a stepping stone for personal development, advancing your career, working life or becoming more active within UNISON.
