This is a five-day course for UNISON stewards and workplace representatives. It covers the role of the stewards in UNISON, UNISON structure, basic organisational, representational and communication skills, equalities and all the basics a steward needs to know in order to take on this role.
Even though the course is online, we expect the same commitment as attending a face-to-face course. It is expected that you will attend all 5 online weekly seminars. This is a requirement of the course and failure to do so may result in you not completing the course and therefore not gaining the formal accreditation.
In addition to the weekly seminars, you will be required to do additional work in your own time that will equate to approximately another 30 hours of study. Attendance at the weekly seminars alone, without completion of all the course modules, will not be enough to satisfy the accreditation criteria.
This course is included in the National Qualifications and Credit Framework. Completion of this course will provide a TUC Award.
Please note there is a £30 charge to your UNISON branch for this course.
