UNISON works for the whole NHS team

We represent NHS staff working in science, therapy and technical roles, including all allied health professionals (AHPs). We fight to make sure you are respected and supported in your work.

UNISON represents all allied health professionals including:

• all 15 of the professions regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council;
• pharmacy technicians regulated by the General Pharmaceutical Council;
• physician associates and anaesthesia associates soon to be regulated by the General Medical Council;
• healthcare scientists, pathology and screening lab staff and many more.

Our partnership with the British Association of Occupational Therapists help us to represent our members better.

What we do for you

With more workplace representatives than any other union, we are best placed to offer local advice about your job.

What’s more, our Professional Services Unit is dedicated to helping our members with their registration and regulation. If you have a complaint made against you – we will support you every step of the way. 

We also provide high-quality legal services to members and their families across a wide range of issues. We work with our specialist legal services provider, Thompsons Solicitors, to provide access to high-quality employment, personal injury, and criminal law advice.
